Prism Marine Electric worldwide
Vessels don't stay put, and neither do we. Yachts we maintain in South Florida cross to the Bahamas and the Caribbean, run Mediterranean seasons and take yard periods in Europe — and we travel for those programs when the project requirements make sense.
Because we already know the vessel's systems and documentation, a traveling technician arrives with the history in hand rather than starting from scratch. That matters most on intermittent faults, refit commissioning and survey attendance, where local labor without the vessel's background spends the first days learning what we already know.
Our scope abroad is the same as at home: power generation, protection and distribution, shore power and frequency conversion, battery banks and load testing, control systems and automation, alarm and fire alarm systems, navigation and LED lighting, grounding and bonding, and appliance circuits. We're honest about logistics — every international project starts with a candid conversation about lead times, parts shipping, customs, local labor and travel, so the plan is realistic from day one.
Where the work is based
Our shop at 201 SW 18th Ave, Fort Lauderdale, FL 33312 carries commonly needed marine electrical stock — breakers, tinned cable, lugs, relays, sensors and lighting — so traveling technicians arrive with parts rather than a shopping list. 30+ years of combined marine electrical experience, licensed and insured, available 24/7 emergency and scheduled service.

Why owners and captains abroad call Prism
We travel where our customers operate
Mediterranean seasons, Caribbean cruising, yard periods and deliveries — we support the vessels under our care wherever the program takes them, when logistics and timelines allow.
We already know the boat
Traveling technicians arrive with the vessel's electrical history, drawings and past test results, which is the difference between hours and days on an intermittent fault.
Honest about logistics
We don't oversell an international trip. If it makes more sense to guide a local contractor remotely or wait for the vessel's return, we'll say so.
Survey and refit support
Class survey attendance, punch-list remediation and refit electrical scope managed alongside the yard, with documentation issued in a form class and insurers accept.

International marine electrical FAQ
Will Prism travel internationally for a project?
Yes — when project requirements, logistics, timelines and budget allow. We travel most often for vessels already under our care: Mediterranean seasons, Caribbean programs, yard periods and survey attendance.
How is international travel quoted?
In advance, with transit, lodging and on-board hours itemized separately from parts and shipping, so there are no surprises on the invoice.
Can you help with 50Hz shore power in Europe on a 60Hz vessel?
Yes. Shore power inlets, cordsets, transfer gear and frequency conversion are core electrical work for us, and mismatched dock supply is one of the most common calls we get from vessels abroad.
Do you work alongside foreign shipyards and local contractors?
Yes. We coordinate with yard project managers and local labor, and in some cases the most efficient answer is for us to engineer and specify the work while a local crew executes it under our direction.
What if travel doesn't make sense for my job?
We'll tell you. Sometimes the right answer is remote support for the vessel's engineer, or scheduling the work for the next time the boat is in South Florida. We'd rather give an honest recommendation than sell a plane ticket.
