About us

Built by marine electricians, run for owners and captains

Prism Marine Electric LLC is a licensed and insured marine electrical contractor based in Fort Lauderdale, serving yachts and superyachts across Broward, Palm Beach and Miami-Dade. We were built on 30+ years of combined marine electrical experience in the yachting industry, with a customer-first approach — the opposite of the profit-first mentality imposed by the larger marine electrical contractors.

Our story

A smaller outfit, on purpose

Prism Marine Electric was built by technicians who spent decades inside large marine electrical contractors in South Florida. The work was good; the model wasn't. Jobs were scoped to hit revenue targets, diagnostics got rushed, and the customer rarely spoke to the person actually holding the meter.

We built Prism the other way around. Call the number on this site and you reach a marine electrician. The person who diagnoses the fault is the person who explains it, quotes it and repairs it. There is no layer between you and the technician.

Staying small keeps us accountable, but it doesn't limit capability. With 30+ years of combined marine electrical experience across yachts and superyachts, we handle high-voltage shore power and switchgear as comfortably as 24V control circuits — and we hold the credentials for access to every major yard, marina and refit facility in the region.

Most of our work is unglamorous and essential: general maintenance, fault-finding on systems nobody else could pin down, and preparing vessels for 5-year and 20-year class surveys. That's where an experienced marine electrician earns their keep.

Neatly loomed and supported marine wiring bundles routed through a yacht overhead void
Marine battery bank strapped into a stainless tray with heavy red and black cable lugs
Marine generator and switchgear cabinet with copper bus and labeled breakers in a yacht engine room
Control and automation cabinet aboard a yacht with relays, terminal blocks and a touchscreen interface

How we work

Diagnose, repair, document

01

Call and describe the fault

You speak with a marine electrician, not a dispatcher. We ask the questions that narrow the problem before anyone drives to the boat.

02

Diagnose by measurement

On board we work from prints and instruments — clamp meters, insulation testers, thermal imaging — so the fix addresses the cause, not the symptom.

03

Repair to marine standard

Tinned copper, correctly rated terminations, adhesive-lined heat shrink, proper support and clear labeling on every circuit we touch.

04

Test, label and document

Systems are tested under real load, panels are relabeled and you receive documentation your captain, surveyor or insurer can use.

Our lane

Ship's electrical systems only

A yacht's "electronics" is really three trades. Bridge navigation gear is one. Audio, video and entertainment is another. The ship's electrical system — generators, shore power, switchgear, distribution, wiring, controls, alarms, lighting and appliances — is ours, and it's the only one we work in.

Anything a wire touches on board

If it draws power, switches power, protects power or monitors power, it's in scope — from the shore power inlet to the galley appliances.

Referred out

  • Bridge navigation electronics (radar, plotters, autopilots)
  • Audio, video and entertainment systems
  • Generator and engine mechanical rebuilds
  • Generator rigging, removal and reinstallation
  • Factory-authorized warranty work on proprietary systems
  • Product-specific service for brands like Crestron or CMC
  • Dealer or distributor sales — we don't rep or sell products
